OIRP DAILY ENROLLMENT
last updated on Fri, 10/26/2007 - 12:16
General Information
Description
The Office of Institutional Research and Planning (OIRP) needs information about daily enrollment to do it's jobs. This information has traditionally been downloaded by a faculty member, printed, and then faxed to the department. The OIRP requested to have the ARC develope a webapplication that would automate this process and also perform stastistical analysis upon the stored data.ARC was asked to deliver the daily enrollment figures to the Office of Institutional Research & Planning (OIRP) website. Juliet Stoering previously pulled these figures from the Banner warehouse and then faxed the figures to University notables each Monday. Once there was a generic warehouse user was created with rights to the correct data, it would feasible to deliver the figures to the OIRP web site.
Purpose and goal of the project
The purpose of this project is to automate a process that was originally manually performed, and enable superior access to more dynamic information. The goal is to create a Web site for tracking daily enrollment figures for the current term and comparing them against the equivalent date from the previous year.Client contact

Project Specification
ARC was asked to deliver the daily enrollment figures to the Office of Institutional Research & Planning (OIRP) website. Juliet Stoering previously pulled these figures from the Banner warehouse and then faxed the figures to University notables each Monday. Once there was a generic warehouse user was created with rights to the correct data, it would feasible to deliver the figures to the OIRP web site.
These figures are broken down based on the following classifications: 'I' and 'NI', Residency, Student level and Class level. The total number of students from each classifications and their credit hours are recorded. These aggregate figures are compared against those from the previous year and expressed as a percent change: current - previous / current * 100 = %change.
The time comparison is based on the beginning of the term. The complete time line extends in two vectors: from the beginning of the term to the beginning of enrollment and from the beginning of the term to the end of the 4th week. Prior to the beginning of the term, the enrollment vector goes from the current date - 1 (the warehouse is a day behind Banner). After the beginning of the term, the vector extends from the beginning of the term to the current date -1.
Initially the Warehouse tables were set up using the old OIRP figures with a separate table for each term. There are now three tables that hold relevent data for the enrollment pages.
